We have partnered with Cars Helping Charities for our car donation program. They work directly with donors to place their car donations with Comprehend. That junk car or that priceless collector’s car that you want to donate can help us fund the many programs we offer throughout the region.
The first step to car donation is to make sure your vehicle or car has a clean title. A clean title, free of all liens, is required for 99% of all car donations. There are some instances when junk cars can be accepted with a bill of sale, but please inquire with their staff before donating. Once you’ve confirmed you have all the documentation you need, you can simply fill out our vehicle donation form below.
Once they have all of your information in their vehicle donation system, they will contact one of their towing companies to schedule a pickup from you. They strive to tow within 24 hours, but sometimes it isn’t feasible. They do their best to give the best estimation of time and only work with quality tow companies nationally. Once your vehicle is towed and the paperwork is in good order, they send the vehicles to either auction or the scrap yard. Most running vehicles go to auction and they receive multiple competing bids for them. After the vehicle is sold, they send a tax receipt with the amount you can deduct from your taxes. This fund pays the nuts-and-bolts, day-to-day expenses of having a community mental health and substance abuse agency in all five counties of the Buffalo Trace region. This is the fund that pays the light bill, staff salaries and all those un-glamourous, absolutely necessary basics that make it possible for Comprehend to serve 4,600 residents in our region.
Does the Federal and State government cover all our operating expenses? Not really. In fiscal year 2011-2012, we had to find 2.1 million dollars to pay for services to Buffalo Trace citizens who had no way to pay and no insurance or other coverage to help them out.
That's why the Operating Fund can be a target for your charitable gifts. You can help us to make up the difference between what we are able to squeeze from the Federal and State allocations, and the actual cost of operating Comprehend as a resource for our whole community!

Designated Gifts are gifts for a specific purpose. Your tax-deductible gift can be designated for the Capital Fund, Endowment or the yearly Operating Fund.
An undesignated contribution to Comprehend may be applied by Comprehend to any fund or purpose of the organization.
Wills and bequests, annuities and charitable remainder trusts can be for a designated purpose or given freely, without designation. Please consult your financial advisor regarding bequests, annuities and trusts, to be sure your wishes are clearly stated and carried out.
